Liturgical Ministries

Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, & Eucharistic Visitors

Youth and adults may train to serve as acolytes: to carry the cross or torches, light candles, and assist the priest or deacon in setting up the altar.

Eucharistic Ministers assist at the altar and Eucharistic Visitors take the elements from communion to those parishioners who are homebound or hospitalized.

Training is required.

Contact Susan Nelson or Dean Gary Meade.

Choir

The Cathedral has a long tradition of musical excellence, and our worship and music reflect this while being flexible to remain vibrant and living. Our music is rooted in the great Anglican choral tradition while we sing joyfully from other traditions. The Choir is comprised of volunteers and paid section leaders. Love to sing? Come join us and make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

Associates of the Community of St. Mary

Associates of the Community of St. Mary have a special relationship with the sisters at the convent in Sewanee, the order to which Sisters Constance, Thecla, Ruth, and Frances belonged in 1878. Men and women throughout the country can become an associate and observe a Rule of Life with the Benedictine rule as a guide. There are  number of Associates in Memphis, mostly at St. Mary’s, and they help plan our annual Martyrs Weekend as well as gather to observe “Mary days.” To find out more about the Associates, contact Susan Nelson, Sister Hannah at the convent, or any of the other associates.
